August 2024 - End of Summer Blues

By the time you get this, many of you will be deep in the throes of getting your kids ready to go back to school or leave for college. Some of you will have just returned from your last family vacation of the summer and are facing the reality that your next long break is months away! Harsh!

This week, I had conversations with each of my nephews who are heading off to college within days of one another. One is going into his junior year and his head is filled with concerns about what happens after graduation, i.e., school debt, getting a job as well as his hopes for a successful hockey and academic season. The other one is starting his freshman year and his thoughts are absorbed with being away from home, the potential of not getting along with his roommates, joining a new hockey team, and starting a new school. Overwhelming, right?!

Read on for some tips on dealing with those days when we have more tasks than time.

July 2024 - staying the course

In the last month or so, I have had multiple conversations with people about "what I know now" compared to my younger days. Inevitably, the convo evolves to "Would you go back to your twenties if you could?" I always laugh and say, "If I could take with me all of the knowledge and confidence I have today, maybe!" Ultimately, probably not. With each year has come new experiences, new discoveries, so much laughter, even a few tears, and so many other wonderful things. If going back means I miss out on all of that, hard pass.

JUNE 2024 - reflection

There are events in our life that end up being touchstones. The moment you start to think about it, or something happens that reminds you, it takes you out of today and brings you right back to that moment as if it were yesterday. May 30th was the anniversary of my dad's passing and just seeing the date on my calendar automatically puts me in that space; I start thinking about all the things I could've said or done differently. I can very easily go down a rabbit hole filled with out-of-grasp wishes but instead, I settle comfortably on selected moments with my father that allow me to revisit a conversation or a shared experience with a smile as I softly re-close that small window to my heart until next time.

I have similar work moments, things I wish I had said or done differently. I wanted to talk about that space between what you did and what you wish you did.

May 2024 - Reintroducing Me!

I have been the Ops Person for decades and I am really good at it! I've also been coaching my teams and focused on building the right culture successfully for years...and those things have always been the BEST part! So, this is me, leaning in to my gifts to reach a broader audience through consulting.
